Learning (Colby-Jane and Savanna only)

Savanna held the bow and arrow in her hand. This wasn't her choice weapon, but considering her father had taken her sword away from her, she felt like she should be learning how to handle new weapons. Perhaps Savanna would get good at the bow and arrow. Perhaps she would be better than the Apollo kids. Savanna looked at the bow and then it dawned on her that she was probably going to suck.

Holding the bow in her hand, Savanna was about to put the arrow in it, when she heard a voice from behind her. Whirling around, she glared at the person who stood behind her. "Don't people at this camp know not to scare people?" Savanna seethed, feeling bad about her temper, but not being able to contain it.

Colby found herself at the archery range.. She hadn't been here in awhile. Archery wasn't really her forte... he wandered along, watching other campers shoot at targets and such.. She thought of getting a bow and some arrows herself but decided not to. She wasn't up for accidently shooting someone...

She saw a dark haired girl struggling with her bow.. She walked towards the girl and watched her for a minute or two. "It would probably help if you held the bow correctly" she said after a few minutes of watching her. The girl snapped back, almost instantly and Colby shrugged "Sorry. Just trying to help"

Savanna's eyes narrowed skeptically at the girl. There people go again... with saying 'sorry'. Savanna wondered if it was because this year the infamous daughter of Hades was actually making friends and now everyone thought that things had changed or if it was because this girl had no clue who she was. Looking at the girl closer, Savanna realized that she didn't really recognize her... but, then again, that wasn't very shocking.

Setting her bow down, Savanna rested her hands on her hips. "Who are you?" Savanna wondered, raising an eyebrow at the girl. Savanna thought that possibly the girl didn't know who she was because Savanna wasn't wearing her usual outfit. Today she wore no make-up, when she usually wore heavy eyeliner and mascara. Savanna's hair was also pulled back and not straightened. Not only that, but she wore jean shorts and a blood red tank-top. No combat boots, no leather jacket, not ripped skinny jeans. That had to be the reason this girl didn't know how she was.

Colby looked at the girl.. She was a but bossy.. and she looked ever so slightly familiar.. Maybe she'd seen her around camp or something.. "Colby-Jane" She said "and you?" She asked brushing her hair out of her eyes. She couldn't place the girl and now it was starting to irk her slightly... She'd been here for ages, she should be able to reconize anyone around here.. Maybe it was because recently she'd been keeping to herself more. She shrugged it off and looked at the girl, waitng for an answer.

When the girl told Savanna that her name was Colby-Jane, it clicked. She had heard of a Athena child with the name Colby-Jane. Savanna raised an eyebrow at Colby-Jane, realizing that she really didn't know who she was. "I'm Savanna Williams." Surely after hearing that name she'll know. There is only one Savanna at this camp.

Savanna hoped that this Colby girl wasn't shallow and petty like the other girls. Savanna knew that Athena children were different. Then again, Savanna wasn't sure Colby-Jane was an Athena child like she heard. Briannon didn't always tell Savanna the most accurate information. Savanna waited to see if Colby recognized her.

Colby bit her lip. Savanna Willaims... She knew that name. It was just out of her minds reach... And then it hit her "Oh! you're Savanna! I thought I reconized you. You look a lot different without all that makeup" She smiled and twisted a strand of hair around her finger.

Savanna. She was a Hades kid wasn't she? That sounded right. She seemed different now.. Not like the girl she'd seen around camp who wore lots of makeup and and combat boots (which were pretty cool actually). COlby never changed though. She always looked pretty much the same. Same worn out jeans and tshirts covered by oversized hoodies and converse. Little or no makeup, and her hair tugged into a messy bun. She'd dressed like this since she was about 10, when she'd gotten all self-conscience and such... not that she really cared what other people thought about her...

Savanna smirked when Colby recognized her. "Yeah, I got that from Briannon and Tony too. Apparently, I'm not the child of Hades' unless I'm decked out in rocker gear." Savanna joked, her tone dark and humorous. Most people knew how dark and dangerous Savanna was... according to some people she was depressing to me around. Savanna figured it was because she reminded people of death. Savanna supposed that was to be expected though.

"You're a daughter of Athena, aren't you?" Savanna wondered, raising her eyebrow. Savanna knew really had any issues with the Athena cabin. They were smart and stayed out of her way. But, it was likely that they heard rumors about what happens when someone messes with Savanna. Surely they heard about what happened to Anthony yesterday. Her hand was still bandaged from breaking his nose.

Colby shrugged "Different doesn't mean bad." She said simply. Colby wondered why Savanna was dressed like this today... She wasn't going to ask though, just to be poilite and such. Colby had heard about Savanna. Rumors and such. She never really believed rumors though. They could get pretty nasty.

"Athena. Yeah" She nodded. It was one of the few things she was sure about. She was a daughter of Athena. And she knew how to stay out of other peoples way. She was a 'good kid.' didn't get into fights. Followed the rules. From what she'd seen of her, Savanna wasn't really that type of person...

Savanna had a feeling that she was going to get along with this girl. "Exactly. Most people don't realize that though." Savanna yawned slightly, remember how little sleep she got last night. Last night she went wandering around the forest, looking for something to do. It was awfully boring without anyone to talk to, so Savanna tested to see how late she could stay up without yawning. She made it to three-forty, then it was over though.

Nodding at Colby, Savanna smiled. "I like the Athena kids. They aren't annoying." Savanna chuckled slightly, blowing a strand of her hair out of her face.

"Yeah. Which is stupid because most of the time, they are different too. People are stupid" She said, balancing on a fallen log, "well not all people.. But a lot of people" She hopped off the log "I sound like I think I'm really smart now don't I? Well... Yeah. I can be an idiot too.." She said, then realizing she was rambling, shut up.

"I try my best" She grinned "And I stay out of the way, and shut up when I should" She said "It's not all that hard. And I'm not whinny either..."

Savanna listened with an amused expression on her face as Colby rambled on. It was quite funny. Savanna wondered if Colby was always like this or if she was worried about being around Savanna. "Woah, breathe girly. I understand what you're saying completely though. And you don't seem like an idiot to me." Savanna smirked at Colby slightly.

"That's good though. Sometimes shutting up is the best thing you can do. I should've learned that by now, but I prefer to let everyone know my opinion." Savanna shrugged. "I guess that's why people think I'm such a bitch."

"Sorry" She grinned sheepishly. She crossed her hands behind her back "My teachers at all the schools I went to would disagree with you there" She shrugged "But most of them were idiots too..." She sighed "I guess everyone has some idiot in them. Some more than others. Like James. He has more. But ony sometimes. You seem to have less" She observed.

"Ah" She said, listening to the girl "I'm not much for attention really... So my opions stay in my head... And you don't seem too bad, I mean, I've known worse..."

Savanna waved her hand as if to brush off the statement. "Its fine, I usually ramble to." Savanna didn't mention that the only time she rambled was when she was angry. "Teachers are idiots. I remember back at my old school, every single teacher was an idiot. I could tell you a million stories about my past, but now isn't the time." Savanna didn't want to freak Colby out. Hearing her mention the name James, Savanna stiffened up noticably. "My friend Tony is a real idiot, so I know what you mean."

Resting a hand on her chest, Savanna mock gasped. "How sweet!" Savanna cried, replying back to the comment about her not being too bad. "You're the first to say that."

"Not ALL of my teachers were idiots. But most of them were." She said, then noticed when Savanna stiffened at Jamies name... She wondered what that was about, but again, kept her mouth shut.

"Trust me. You really aren't that bad. I know bad. Bad lived next door to me for six years" SHe cringed, remembering her old neighbor "She makes you look like an angel"

Savanna smirked as Colby talked. "You're right, I'm not bad." Savanna's intense grey-blue eyes narrowed as her smirk grew. "I'm just bad-ass." Was her egotistic comment. Yes, Savanna knew that she was much too conceited and much too cynical, but it was just the way she preferred to be.

Biting her lip, Savanna stared at nothing in particular for a little bit. "You know what, I like you. I think maybe I can help you become a bad-ass like me. I'm awfully good at training." Savanna commented, feeling amused.

Colby grinned. Savanna was quite bad ass. SHe wasn't bad. Not really. Yeah she did some mea things, but didn't everyone? Why should her bad things be highlighted? Colby guessed it was her father. People sterotyped/

"Me? Bad ass? I don't think thats possible" She scoffed "I'm too quiet. Too... Awkward" she said honestly "But I guess I'll give it a try" she grinned "Only cause I like you too (in a totally friend sort of way)"

Savanna laughed. "You really are shy, aren't you?" Savanna wondered, smirking at the poor girl. "And, trust me, I can make anyone a badass. My friend James was a total nerd, but when I got to him, he was my partner in crime. Until he died." Savanna said it so fast, she couldn't stop it. When she did say it, Savanna smacked a hand over her mouth.

"yeah" She nodded. Then looked at Savanna. She looked down when she said her best friend James had died. "What is it" she looked up and took a deep breath "About people named James? They seem to die a lot" she said pushing back the threat of tears "My brother. He was a James. He died. My best friend. He's a James. He nearly died." She remembered when she first met James Holt. She couldn't even say his name without crying for about a year... He reminded her of her own brother....

Savanna looked at Colby empathetically, she knew the feeling. Savanna felt like she could trust Colby with her story of James. "It was when I was thirteen. I wanted to steal a Led Zeppelin tee shirt from a thrift store. I didn't have enough money to buy it, so stealing was the only option. I convinced James to come with me." Savanna felt her throat tightened as she ran a shaking hand through her hair.

"I got caught by the owner though. The owner happened to be a cyclops and he attacked us. James was a satyr. He gave me my first sword and I managed to kill the monster. James then brought me to Camp. Yet, before we made it into the camp, another cyclops who was pissed that I killed his brother. It killed James." Savanna didn't cry, but it still hurt. "I guess there is just something wrong with the name James."

"When I was 9, me and my James came here. And when we were like.. ten miles away...." She stopped and took a deep breath. this was the part she hated. the part that gave her nightmares. "We were attacked. By a hellhound." Her voice shook "I was knocked unconscience. When I woke up, the hell hound was gone. And James was dying" She looked down. "And then he just... died. Just like that." She looked up at Savanna, "I guess you're right"

Savanna had the most overwhelming urge to hug the girl, but she kept her distance. Savanna didn't know if Colby was sick of the sympathy like she was. It was better to understand what they were feeling than to feel sorry for them. "It sucks losing someone you care about. But, I've learned that it gets better with time." Savanna shrugged.

"You're tough if you're still standing after that though. People probably don't understand what we've gone through, seeing someone we care about die. That's why I'm such an apathetic person." Savanna downcast her eyes. "I think we'll get along Colby."
